Hi Everyone
Happy New Year from Wales UK!
I have just started printing the small printer mod for the MTU, specifically part C2A
Karl advises support pattern - Concentric, which I have never used before
When printed, the part feels flimsey, although this might be ok when everything is put together
If I select cubic it adds another 2hrs to the print!!
Before I print any more parts is Concentric definately ok to use? All of the MTU is Concentric from the website. I just want to double check
Many Thanks
Mark
Thanks for the response Karl. I suppose it's just trial and error. Some parts have printed beautifully, others a downright disaster then again I'm a 3D newbie.
Hello Gorge,
I would highly recommend you print those parts TW36/37 in that orientation. If needed you could always use a brim or raft for extra adhesion. I did try laying them down flat, but the finish looked bad. And they didn't take the right shape when mounted to the throttle.
As for the centre section, if you are getting a bad finish, make sure your support settings are adequate, increase the support interface density, and make sure your Z gap is a multiple of your layer height! My supports come away very easily now and leave an almost perfect finish, apart from the odd place where a big is fused together. But that rarely happens now, I always find the correct print temp for the filament I am using. This is done by using a simple temp tower test piece from within cura.
I hope that helps.
Kind Regards Karl
Happy New year to everyone. While we are on the subject, are all of the items for printing for example like TW36 and 37 printed in the orientation as in your print guide? Also, has anyone else had problems in getting the Centre case printed well enough so that the one surface where the throttle stem bearings run in doesn't print so rough? I've noticed the surface where the support to the bed is is not printed as smooth as the other side. Any advice if you have succeeded will be appreciated. Sorry for hijacking this thread.
Thanks for your quick reply Karl
I guessed I did something wrong......
Thanks again
Mark
Hi Mark, please make sure you have support infill selected to concentric and not the part infill. The part infill needs to cubic. The part should not be flimsy. Kind regards Karl
