Finding those hall sensors is difficult and takes weeks to arrive from China. Not sure what hall sensors do. Are there alternatives to using the Hall sensor?
The Hall sensors I ordered from DigiKey came with a nut attachment unlike the one's Karl uses. I did receive the parts from China within 2 weeks so I have those mounted now. Next step is to sync the sensors.
Thanks everyone for the replies. The info has been very helpful. I have ordered 4 Hall sensors from China and also 2 Hall sensors from DigiKey in the US. The DigiKey ones should arrive in 1-2 weeks.
Ok, i am in the last stage to going public with the software, allmost everything is running now. I am testing it with Torsten from Vienna now and then i have to write a Manual for hooking up and callibrating it.
The first Version we be to you at the weekend latest. and then we will see what happend.
What you can do before is:
install your Potis so, that they have the full turn freely the hole Way of the Levers,
Watch that Flap, Speedbrake and Reverser Potis are showing a little above zero at the Down Positions and a stay below the max Value of your Poti at the Max Position.
Thank you for that awesome explanation Piki. Really appreciate it. Can you maybe give us a tutorial how to wire it up to your board and then to calibrate it properly before adding the gears etc? I imagine we will need your software first?
P= Standard potentiometer, H = Hall sensor potentiometer.
P: there are linear and logarithmic, we need LINEAR for the sim.
H: to my knowledge there are allways linar.
P: Rotation range usually 270 degrees from 0 - 100 percent.
H: rotation range usually 360 degrees from 0 - 100 percent
P: if you swap + and -, they measure in reverse, no problem.
H: they always measure in the same direction. NEVER!!! swap +and -, then you produce smoke and the thing is junk.
P: Danger of contamination by dust etc. due to the open construction of the housing,
and they collect dirt over the Time, so they get weak.
H: No danger of contamination.
P: not very precise, depending on the quality. You could buy high Quality, but they are expensiv too.
H: Precise, because of contactless design.
P: cheap
H: expensive
Where should you use poti or hall on the MTQ.
Hall you should use with the Thrustlevers, because both Thrustlevers should always measure the same value over the entire path, precision.
With the Flap it is not so important, since you evaluate only certain points at the Lever and you do not have to be necessarily syncron with something else.
With the speedbrake it is the same as with the flaps. You can use pots without any problems.
With the potentiometers you have the advantage that you can reverse the polarity and thus always measure from 0- 100% and not from 100-0%. e.g. Speedbrake Down = 0....... Speedbrake Up = 100.
With the Hall sensors you must compensate in your software, if they are installed opposite and thus one measures clockwise and the other counterclockwise.
You can also use potentiometers for the reverse lever, although there are two that should actually measure synchronously. Should not be a problem.
Rember to switch + and - on one of the ReversePotis, so that they measure in the same direction, because they are build in opposite to each other.
Hi Steve, I got mine through AliExpress and also thought it would be disastrous. It was shipped fairly quickly out of China but because it then ends up in our postal system, that part was the disaster. It took me almost 3 months to get it because of our customs and Post office, so if you don't have that problem in your country you should get it a lot quicker. As far as I know is that the sensor relays the exact position of where your throttles or other levers are. Normal pots won't do that. Having said this, I would like some help from anyone that can help in giving a tutorial how to hook it up to a computer to get the centre point of the hall sensor as required in the build guide. Thanks

Awesome, thank you Piki. Looking forward to your manual and thank you for your help and advice so far.

The Hall, we have to callibrate by software then.

I'll try to explain the difference:

Hope I could help a little bit.

We have a company called Digi-Key here. I also going to try these items. Product #6127V1A360L.5FS

Mine are shipped from China in 10 day. Im orded 2 only for the throttle. € 50,00
