MTUv5 guide for pmdg737+Mobiflight+Fsuipc7 finally done!

Hi everyone! After many hours of trial and error I have finally managed to finish my MTUv5 and constructed a guide to assist others. It turned out to be way more complex compared to what I thought when I started the build 😀 Just make sure to take your time. Everything works by using the pmdg737 in msfs+mobiflight+fsuipc7+Arduinos. If you use P3D I assume this will work for you but haven't tested it. I went through the guide myself as a test and it seems complete. Just keep in mind it can always happen that I missed something. I tried to find a balance between realism and complexity and I think I managed it well. Good luck building !

Hello Sir, Amazing Build..! i have few questions.

i bought TB6600 for motor drivers a while back and i see you used Buck converter. is it efficient? i can find LM2596 ADJ Buck converter and TMC2208 here in canada, should i go for that? and will the electronic hardware schematic provided in your document work for ProSim?. if yes can you please provide me a parts list at manthan949@gmail.com.

Hello all together,

I am now ready with the build of MTUV5 and start with programming with the guide of Bjarne. I want to start with Engine 1.

I can`t upload the Sketch from Bjarne for Engine 1. The upload fails, it is a "upload error exit status 1"

Does anyone have the same problem and can help me?

I had the same problem until I switched over to on the prosessor under tools menu use old Bootloader. Then it went straight in for me

Hello everyone. I didn't realise that many files were missing. I should have all the files on a backup and will check as quickly as I can to update the guide. I have done some work on the speed brake to make it deploy more reliably. I am also looking to convert the trim indicators to be servo powered since I found the servo mod on discord. Lastly I would love to create a PCB for this projects so wiring becomes much easier. I have however no experience designing a BCP so it will take some time. In any case thanks for giving this method a try.

Yes indeed. Both arduino nanos for eng1 and eng2 run the same software. You are correct for the wiring. That is where each nano get their signals.

I am surprised you could not receive assistance from other users on Discord, as there are typically individuals on there who are constantly seeking advice regarding this particular build. As a suggestion, you guys should subscribe to the discord. It is the preferred method of posting and answering any questions you may in regards to your builds. There are channels dedicated to the individual builds (MTU, MCP, EFIS, etc...). Its a great way to interact with other builders and get help. Here is the link to download the app (https://discord.com/download) once you have that setup then search for and subscribe to the "737DIYSIM" server. There is also a "MobiFlight" server. I did a quick search for "Trim 9c" within the "MTU" channel and I got the following result. "There appears to be broken Google links in Secoendo's V5 guide. Would it be possible to fix these following Google links. They are: (a) Step 4 (Speed Brake Lever) item 12a and (b) Step 5 (Trim Indicator) item 9c. In both cases, Google reports "file does not exist"

I already am subscribed and I’m capable of searching which I did to. Agree there is a post on the issue and that’s all well and good but you’ll also notice that post hadn’t had a reply and the links remain unfixed. Came here as a last resort as I’m seeing lots of discord posts going unanswered and generally find the format not helpful to get answers as questions get lost

Hello. Yes both nano and mega are required. The system has 1 mega that is connected to the pc. Each stepper motor has an arduino nano with a tmc2208 driver. Every arduino nano receives signals from the mega. I assume it is possible to use with p3d but I think the variables will have to be changed to the ones used in p3d.

Thanks, I just discovered it, I have been strugling in vane for months to get it to work. I am running the sim P3d/PMDG simply on FSUIPC and Mobiflight as I can't afford Prosim.

Will it be same programming for P3D as it is fo msfs or do i have to change things.

My v5 is buildas Carl's with all parts in his description, would you recomend to change driver to TMC 2208 /iso/TB6600. I am an old 80 years retired airline jockey that still loves to fly when I feel for it and thats quite often. I would be glad to hear from you and if so you can also reach me on henning@ringsvold.no

Very good job man. This will help me tremendously when I get to that stage! I have a question for you. What stepper motors and drivers are you using for the throttle and speedbrake, they sound very quiet and seem very smooth, I would like to get the same ones. Appreciate it. - Mathias

I am using the same stepper motors as the mtu build guide. For the drivers I switched to tmc2208 drivers because they are silent. Wasn’t easy to get them to work with Mobi but they run great now. Both the stepper and driver are basically 3d printer parts so you should be able to find them easily.
