Hello everyone,
I've been planning to build a 737 home cockpit for a long time. At first I had planned to buy "kits" and then assemble the panels myself.
But now I was unsure and thought to myself: 3D prints are sufficient for my requirements. The longer I look around on this site, the more uncertain I become.
If I read one page, I think "Perfect, a 3D print is just right", on other pages I have the feeling "I can't get far without a CNC device" or "I should buy all the panels".
As I said: The longer I look around on this site, the more uncertain I become. This should absolutely not be understood as a criticism of the site or Karl!
So far I have not found the point where the production of a panel is explained.
(So that's what it means when you print? How is the lettering done? Are the texts "higher" that you can just paint the top? Or does it even work that you "omit" the lettering when printing and then use a other color "fills"?
Maybe someone can give me a clue. Or does all this not work and you should machine the Panales with a CNC machine? Or even buy it?
Thanks very much!
Christian
I kinda felt the same way. The text is higher and you can use a paint pen or the like to color it. I tried one on my 3D printer and I liked it. Cnc and laser make it look way more professional but I kinda like the process and the fact that I did it. Make one thing with the 3D printer and see what you think. If you want it all done with no fiddling or extra time, buy. Even with all the offerings on this website from Karl, it’s still a commitment of time and experimenting. I personally think that’s the best part. In theory, if I had the money, I could just buy a full motion sim. Although that would be amazing, I would have had nothing to do with it. Enjoy the process. Start with one 3D print, play a little. I’ll likely buy a couple of things as I haven’t got the space on my printer or the time. But prices go down on lasers and cnc machines everyday so who knows. My two cents. Good luck and have fun!
