I want to 3D print the baseplates and faceplates.
But I am confused about how to get the faceplate backlit. The "text engraving" is not very deep, so if I multicolor print with two colors, the bottom part transparent, and the top part RAL7011, it seems that the top layer will be TOO thin.
It seems to me that it's only usable for CNC engraving, and if it was to be 3D printable, the "text engraving" needed to be deeper, like a few layers.
Hope it makes sense and that you can give me some advice.
Thanks in advance.

In case somebody is looking for the same answer: I extruded the text up at a level of 0,9mm, printed with transparent filament, spray painted it with RAL 7011, and removed the painting on the text.
I have been testing a similar method as August, but using a grey PLA and also black for guages. using Cura facility for scripts to change filament after layer 2 during slicing, upto layer two being the darker material, then change filament to a transparent one and print the rest of the guage/plate early result are promising, thinking of changing my nozzle from a .4 to a .2 essentially doubles print time but could give finer results with text.
