I am trying to build the throttle unit as my first item having never done anything like this before and thanks to Karl we all have a chance to have our own cockpit (at least in my case this will be several years at my pace).đ
My question is about the springs in the speedbrake and flap arms. The build guide suggests a 4 x 78 spring in each but it looks as if these would be too long, especially on the flap lever? Also anybody have a good place to get these springs from (uk), I have looked on ebay and other places and to get specific lengths for this diameter is quite difficult. Any ideas / help gratefully received.
Yup, 78mm is far too long. 40mm is about right.
Try these - mine arrived in under 3 weeks.
Thanks Bill
Did you use the shorter spring in the speed brake lever as well, looks os though 60 would do there?
@Steve Morris You can use 40mm springs everywhere - they stretch :-)
The ebay link is for a pack of 10, enough for the whole TQ.
@Bill Buchanan Point taken đđ
I just pulled the spring until the tension felt right to me then drove the screw through it and cut off the excess hanging past the screw. It doesn't really need a loop at both ends.
