Anyone else building the 757/767 TQ? Have any experiences to share? I've been having a blast FDM and SLA printing the parts and watching as something begins to take form... until I hit part 41. The Center body piece is making me lose my will to live. Second print still looks like hot garbage although its passable to at least put something together. I just wish I could get it to fix in a resin printer and be done with it.
Does anyone who is building this model have any print settings and success stories they'd care to share?
Only other thing I'll add is that holy supports! Most of the pieces due to their unique geometry will take some time post printing in clean up to get rid of the support structures.
Tom
Just wanted to share that another 757/767 is nearing completion! Just a little more wiring to go before final touches. Its turning out very nice. Most of the parts are spray painted and wet sanded. A few details on that...
In the US finding cheap RAL8024 is next to impossible for some reason so I've been getting Rustoleum Nutmeg from my local hardware store. Its the 2X cans that are paint and primer, which is perfect cause it allows for easy wetsanding with 800-1000 grit between coats. The other handles are Rustoleum Satin Black and the flaps detent and handle are Rustoleum metallic aluminum.
I'm using a Leo Bodnar BU0836A for the buttons and axis, and am wiring up the LEDs for use with a DM13A controlled by HCSCI since I'm an XP11 user.
The TOGA mini switches finally arrived and was able to start putting together the handles. Its not perfect put looks good. The handle pieces were sprayed with multiple coats of rustoleum satin black with wet sanding in between, with the same on the knobs expect with gloss white.
Printed the left hand (spoiler handle side) and after 24 hours I got a nice looking box! One big issue though not related to the model. I think I had a blast of cold air come in here and caused a warp! I might reprint this to see or at least use a heat gun to see if I can at least remold that corner to make it less ugly.
Hi Karl! My third go is down to 30 minutes after 25 hours of printing. How long did those take you to print?
I think my issue was that I took your directions a little too literally. I swapped nozzles to follow the 0.8 line width recommendation and the results were less than ideal. I spent a while doing some maintenance on the machine, manually and then probed the bed with my BLTouch numerous times, swapped in a 0.5mm nozzle and drastically changed my print settings and this one is coming out nearly flawless. One of the biggest differences I can see already is the infill and support shape. I can't remember what they were on the previous one, but for this version I switched both to ZigZag and from what I can see its coming out much nicer as as as the supports.
When its finished I'll post some attempt 2 and attempt 3 photos.
Hi Tom, Part 41 for me was printed like this, Supports selected everywhere, And then flicked out at the end. This piece for me caused no issues and came out the first time. As you can see I also had a skirt on but would recommend changing to Brim to try and keep those corners flat!
Kind Regards Karl
