Good Morning guys,
MIP and Overhead panels arrived from CockpitSimparts this week, they look amazing ! Obviously they need to be mounted on a back board to give them some rigidity, I am curious what people have used ie plywood or MDF ?
looking forward to getting into this now my homemade MCP for $38 worked a treat just wish I had a CNC machine. Steve
I like what you've done there, it looks like a great solution and the build quality is amazing. I would be interested to know how it goes.
Guess I need to invest in a router, jig saw and bench saw !!
Hi Steve
I also bought my MIP from Cockpit Sim Parts and like you I puzzled over how to fit and add rigidity.
In the end I secured it with screws from the back using the tabs that run along the bottom edge of each panel ( I chiselled out a rebate the thickness of the panel for each tab in a piece of wood which runs along the bottom of the MIP.)
Although I haven't got to this stage yet, I'm guessing a lot of support will actually come from the three monitor screens which will be braced against the back face of the MIP to prevent bending.
Not too sure how others have done it but hopefully this should work out ok.
