Hello,
Thank you so much for all the great design you have made for the community.
I have started on my first project which is the MCP. I am ready to start soldering now and I am wondering if you recommend to use spades when wiring the different components? Or do you just solder all wires directly on to the components?
Thank you.
It turned into a mix of some pins soldered directly and some using spades.
Hello Espen, Im lazy and spades for me would just add to the complexoity of crimping the part. I currently prefer soldering direct to the toggle switches. Howver, this is suited to me and using spades would look pretty profession and produce a great bit of eye cansy if done correctly!
Kind Regards Karl
Depends on the tools you have? I've been soldering most of the rotaries, encoders, and LEDS. Using spades on switches. You need a special small crimper for the 24awg or 22awg wire if you want them to hold well. The nice thing about spades is that if the component fails, you can swap parts out pretty quick. If you are good at soldering though, that's probably the best route as you don't have to worry about the spade and wire separating.
