I wanted to share my tips and tricks on how to possibly save failed 3D prints.
What do we need?
SLA-Resin,
Spatula,
sandpaper,
uv flashlight,
Thickener (flour, glass bubbles or something similar.
how do we do it
Mix thickener with resin in a container until it is pasty like you want it.
Apply it to the area to be repaired with a spatula, smooth it out roughly.
Then shine the UV lamp on it for a few minutes to harden.
Then smooth it with 120-240 grit sandpaper until it is the way you want it.
Ready.
Engraved (min. 1.5 -2.0 mm) text fill the text with pure resin in the color you want it to be, harden with the UV lamp, sand off excess hard resin, the great text is done.
How did I come up with this?
My right MTQ case was so stuck to the print bed that I broke it when I took it off. 20 hour print time for the trash can. I'm a bit older now and only have a limited lifetime left ;-)), so I was looking for a way to save the part.
Tried a bit and came up with the above solution, it worked immediately because I still had old glass bubbles in stock.
Then I tried using flour as a substitute, and it worked.
Attach a few more photos.
Awesome solution to save failed prints.
Can also be used for warping compensation.
Attention!!
Wear UV eye protection goggles as the UV light can cause serious damage to your eyes, we only have two!
Glass bubbles are so fine that they go straight into the lungs when you breathe in, so wear an FFP2 mask, we have enough of them in the house these days.
And a pair of gloves wouldn't be bad either.
Have fun trying it, I hope it saves you a few prints or you enjoy the cool texts on your stuff.
