I have a Makerbot Method X and have been having problems getting the lettering on my buttons for the Garmin G-1000 to turn out properly. I have performed bed calibration and insured that my extruder nozzles are clear and clean. I used rafting, dissolvable support and Tough material on high quality settings. I have tried varying the layer height, built the buttons with print facing up and down, and a variety of other variables, but the lettering does not turn out consistently. Sometimes it is distorted, sometimes one of the letters is missing, etc. I do not have a resin printer. The Method X can also print ABS and almost any material that you can think of. Can someone using a filament based system tell me what material and print settings that you used to make the buttons? After completing the G-1000 I want to take a shot at the CDU!

I figured this out(with the help of google) with my Ender 3 Pro with a 0.4 nozzle.
Just select 0.2 nozzle in your slicer, even though you are using a 0.4 and it should print fine.
I was having a real struggle getting the nose up and down buttons to come out due to them being the smallest of the lettering. Changing nozzle to 0.2 in Cura solved it and printed perfectly.
Hi Karl,
I'll take a shot at changing the text for a button or two and see how it works. Unfortunately I am going to be away for a couple of months starting in March. So it may take me a while. When I get success, I'll send you the files for F360. I assume the downloadable files are modifiable?
Warm regards,
Phil
Hello,
After spending a long time writing a reply to this email, and it not working, i can only appoloigse if this is a little shorter.
Filament printers are not very good at printing text below 3mm with a 0.4 mm nozzle. It is improved with a 0.2mm nozzle, but its still not great. Resin printers up the quality, but its not what I would call a quality print.
The G1000 was designed to be actual size. This doesnt really workj for foilament printers when it comes to small text.
What needs to happen is the parts need to be oversized to make t work correctly for both filament and resin printers.
I have not gotten around to creating this version yet.
Kind regards Karl
