Karl created the MCP with 8 digit MAX7219 modules (blue) that had 7mm wide characters. This screen shot is from the Fusion web viewer:

The 4-digit modules are 30mm wide, so 4 x 7 = 28mm, which means there is 2mm spare. When 2 modules are put together there is a 4mm gap between each 4-digit pair, which shows up on the Alt and VS displays.
However most MAX7219 modules have 7.5mm digits, which space out evenly without extra gaps:

The net result is that most 8-digit MAX7219 modules are clipped in the Course and Speed windows that are just 20mm and 21mm (3 displays need 21.5mm minimum). I have tried to edit the MCP Fusion files, but I find Fusion 360 slow and difficult to use. Somewhere there will be sketch of the front panel, that was extruded into a solid, but I can't find it. Can somebody help making the display windows wider?
That's brilliant Karl! Thank you for the edit.
My challenge now is to split the front into 3, using the raised text option. I've prototyped your raised text MCP on Thingverse and I like it. As a beginner I only have light blue PLA, I'll try white paint applied very carefully
Cheers
Paul
