Hello everyone & Karl! This is Baran, 32 years old, I'm into simming for 5 years at least, I got my DIY made 737 inspired Arduino-based panels, and recently I saw Karl's epic project for 737 throttle as well and for this very reason I decided to buy an Ender 3 v2, most parts are done, only the closures and big parts are left. Just waiting for the motorized version of this :)
Got some comments though!
1- Cura profiles of Karl's are kind of lacking, only 0.6 and 0.8mm versions are there. Can you update it with lower ones as well?
2- The PDF file I have (v4 AFAIK) for Throttle has some mistakes when it comes to screws, it's kind of different from the Fusion file, and there's no clear tutorial about which size/type goes where, had to dig thru all 3 videos and Fusion file, that could be misleading (like I experienced) for other people as well, maybe also needs to be fixed.
3- There's not any clear instruction for motorizing the Trim Wheel (at least I could not find), If I ever mount it, I'd definitely want it to be motorized. I've got a 2208 28BYJ-48 Stepper with ULN2003 card, would it work or shall I use a DC one?
Oops, that's something i did not expect to be honest :)
Hi Karl, thanks for your kind and detailed answers. I noticed that the manuals are down for some reason, at first I thought it's just me but as you stated it's a page fault, I believe it'll be soon fixed.
Correct me if I'm mistaken but with the introduction of v4, every aspect will be motorized then right? I think you prefer leaving v3 without a motor. If so, that's good, but "full size" option actually confused me a bit, I had thought that you would take a step over v3 and make it motorized as it is, so that we would not need to re-print everything :) Please tell me there'll be both sizes as well :)
Bon apetit,
Baran
Hello Baran, Fantastic to hear from you. Lets start with the Boeing 737 throttle. I think I have reached the end for the version 3 throttle. Its now time to move on. This was a Patreon requested build, to fill in while I create version 4, (the full motorised, full size unit). So as stated on the trim wheel mod page, I will not be making it motorised. People just asked for a manual trim wheel application which I was able to produce and test in one day. I guess it adds more realism, but the operation is incorrect.
I will try and answer some of your questions now:
1) I didnt update my cura profiles for 0.2 or 0.4mm nozzle because I use cura's default settings which have produced stunning prints from day 1. It was only when I switched to an 0.6mm and 0.8mm and then started using ABS did my settings need to be customised.
2) The Throttle build manual is now online for this very reason. When someone points out the wrong screw, its easy to correct this online, instantly. However, I have just checked this and realised the webpage has failed. That's going to take a few days to sort. Please bear with me.
3)My apologies, as pointed out above i have no intention of motorising the trim wheels on this unit for the time being.
Thank you for the feedback, please do mention anything else you find. I will honestly try to correct as soon as possible. Just going to have dinner and try to sort the 3d printed throttle guide out.
Kind Regards
Karl
