Depends on the tools you have? I've been soldering most of the rotaries, encoders, and LEDS. Using spades on switches. You need a special small crimper for the 24awg or 22awg wire if you want them to hold well. The nice thing about spades is that if the component fails, you can swap parts out pretty quick. If you are good at soldering though, that's probably the best route as you don't have to worry about the spade and wire separating.
