The ultimate printer I can recommend is the Bambu Labs X1 carbon with AMS or P1P if you have deep pockets. ($1200). It's a massive leap forward in 3D printing, with excellent quality and impressive speeds. It's pretty much press print and go as the software and hardware do the calibration before each print.

The A320 Window Light build guide allows you to create a highly detailed replica of the interior window light found throughout the Airbus A320 cabin. Designed specifically for home cockpit builders and simulator enthusiasts, this assembly provides a realistic appearance while remaining simple and cost-effective to manufacture using common 3D printing equipment.

Each aircraft window position requires one light assembly, meaning you will typically need Qty. 2 units to complete a pair of windows. The design consists of three 3D-printed parts produced in two colours to replicate the appearance of the original component.

As the original designer, I printed the prototype parts using PLA, which produced excellent results and a high-quality finish. However, because the assembly houses a 12V spotlight, some heat is generated during operation. While no long-term issues have been observed during testing, the effects of prolonged heat exposure on PLA are still unknown. For builders operating their simulators for extended periods, future revisions may benefit from being printed in PETG or ABS, both of which offer improved heat resistance and durability.

Despite its realistic appearance, this is a relatively simple project to assemble. The design uses a small number of components, minimal hardware, and straightforward construction techniques, making it suitable for builders of all experience levels. Once completed, the assembly produces a professional-looking replica that closely matches the appearance of the original aircraft installation.

The lighting unit utilises an economical 12V mini spotlight, providing a bright and evenly distributed light source while remaining easy to source and replace if required. The lens system has been designed to create a realistic illumination effect while hiding the internal light source from direct view.

For builders who do not own a laser cutter, pre-cut lenses will be available through the 737DIYSIM shop, eliminating the need to manufacture the lens yourself. A printable cutting template is also included for those who prefer to produce their own lens from clear acrylic sheet.

Whether you are building a full-size A320 cockpit or enhancing an existing simulator, this project offers an excellent balance of simplicity, affordability, and realism, making it an ideal addition to any Airbus flight deck.
