AH-64 Keyboard Prototype PCBs – Not for beginners!
The next batch of prototype PCBs has arrived! Due to high demand, we have added them to the webshop, despite them not being tested in DCS. These boards have been thoroughly tested and verified to work using Mobiflight and an Arduino Pro Mega, making them an excellent foundation for building your AH-64 keyboard. These units are the identical keyboards you may have operated at FSweekend Expos in previous years.
Designed with through-hole components, these PCBs ensure a straightforward soldering and assembly process, even for those with moderate experience. Karl has already distributed 50 PCBS (25 sets) for prototyping, but no feedback has been received, so this remains an unproven design in DCS. Nevertheless, this short-run batch consists of only 20 sets, making it a rare opportunity for builders eager to bring this project to life.
Due to space constraints, the keyboard features two PCBs mounted back-to-back. The design allows for adjustable backlighting in green or white, while the large LCD seamlessly integrates into the orifice at the top.
For parts lists and step-by-step assembly guidance, please refer to the build guide. Once again, this setup has not been tested in DCS, and currently suffers from needing a ground wire from the daughter board to the ground of the main board. This must be added to make it work.
Only recommended for those DIY sim builders who know how to program an Arduino to DCS and are happy to tinker with PCB and basic electronics. We cannot offer any help until we receive feedback from the community on the programming. However, the team here is more than willing to help if you require knowledge in assembling the product.
