The MIP Base Panels

These parts form the basic structure and shape of the 737SS MIP. They are intended to be mounted to the full-size MIP Baseboard. They are designed to remove the complex cutouts from the MIP baseboard and replace them with standard rectangular cutouts where possible, making DIY construction and assembly much more straightforward.

Usually created from 3mm grey acrylic, primed and painted grey. They are the interface between a baseboard and all the mounting face panels. All (NG) are constructed to resemble a replica Boeing 737 (NG) MIP. The package comprises five main panels and one standby instrument blank, totalling six pieces.

FAQ's

  1. Can I buy the baseboard these panels attach to? Unfortunately, not yet. Due to logistical and cost constraints, producing and shipping the panel is currently not cost-effective. For instance, a full-size panel (6mm acrylic in grey) costs £48, but shipping it to the USA adds £250. Therefore, it is far cheaper for the customer to make the panel locally with a jigsaw or use the files in the guide.
  2. Why is there a gap between the MIP base panels? This gap results from replicating the Bouing MIP, which also has this gap. It is supposed to be there. Please do not try to mount the base or panels directly next to each other. Doing so will cause huge issues in getting all the components to fit.
  3. Even with a 2mm gap, why do the LH and RH panels not go to the edge of the base? As previously stated in the above question, there should be a gap between the base panel and the edge. This is also replicated in the actual aircraft.
